All the perennials planted by the mailbox are coming up beautifully!

After a long, cool and wet spring, they are finally blooming!

The Hostas too....

I've also expanded the beds and planted new plants,

including good ol' Monkey Grass!

The above pictures were all taken a few weeks ago.

You should see them now!

And you will...but I have to take more pictures first.

In the meantime, take a look at all the hostas

coming up in the back yard.

They're not much to look at yet, but they were in such bad shape

when they finally got planted last summer,

that I'm thrilled they survived!

And finally, here's a picture of the new bed in the back yard and the

new plants that are going to be planted there.

Better pictures of these will be posted later!

This is my new perennial garden:

And this is my annual bed where I planted zinnia seeds:

Look! It's only been a few days, and they're already sprouting! Isn't that exciting?!

I want to plant some of them HERE

next to the existing Hosta that I swear tripled in size from last year!

These are my leftover treasures from the tree recently cut down (it was too close to my neighbor's house and was about to destroy the chain link fence.)

The stumps are for plant stands, or even sitting stools. The two chunks that are split open will make splendid pots for some little plants, don't you think? The round pieces are for unique stepping stones!

Did you notice the new reed fencing that adorns the chain link fence?

This is another of my new perennials called a Guara - doesn't it look lovely in this pot?

And my new little patio outside the back door! A place for my gas grill, and no more ugly stones!

In this plot of dirt

I'm going to plant this ground cover called Ajuga, or Bugleweed

And that vine to the left of the Ajuga, which is Virginia Creeper (a freebie I pulled out of my front shrub bed) is going to be planted by the shed to climb a trellis. But I have to repaint the shed first. :-(

Virginia Creeper turns a brilliant red in the fall. I think I'll paint the shed a dark marine grayish blue with the white trim.

The back yard has been graded and seeded with grass seed. That's straw strewn about to keep the seed in place and keep moisture in.

Winter in Cherry Beach

This is my third winter here, and even though it's been a very cold winter so far, and extremely cold this last week with lots of snow....I still would rather do winter in Michigan than do summer in Texas! It snowed all day Saturday...

... and today we got to dig out from under all that snow!

The sun came out too, and it was lovely....

The view on my street from one end on the west.....

...to Canada on the east!

No Sweat!

Ahhhh....after two years, I'm still on a honeymoon with Michigan summers! This afternoon is supposed to be sunny and about 74; tomorrow's forecast calls for sunny all day with a high of 78! Blue, blue skies, white fluffy clouds, lush green grass that's soft on your bare feet....and sparkling blue water at the end of my street. Compared to the dreadful heat in East Texas this is absolutely, gloriously delightful! Look - I took some pictures during my walk this afternoon......
